Tax Compliance Manager

About the role

Deloitte West Africa is recruiting a Tax Compliance Manager for its internal Finance Team, based in Lagos, Nigeria. The role oversees the firm's end-to-end internal tax compliance and acts as the internal tax expert advisor across all firm departments. The position is full-time and requires a minimum of 6 years of progressive tax experience.

Key responsibilities

• Staff tax management: oversee PAYE, employee statutory deduction remittances, Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) processing, annual staff tax audits and PenCom certification compliance.
• Partner tax administration: file partner tax returns, manage Partner PIT, process Partner TCCs, monitor WHT utilization and address partner tax queries.
• Firm tax administration: compute and remit monthly VAT and withholding tax (WHT) for clients and vendors, and answer internal tax queries.
• Tax audit and objections: manage Federal (FIRS) and State Revenue Service audits and handle formal objection procedures to tax and pension audit reports.
• Tax reporting and reconciliations: maintain the firm's annual tax calendar, prepare monthly compliance status reports and run tax ledger balance sheet reconciliations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting or a related field, with a minimum of Second Class Lower / Lower Credit division.
• Minimum 5 credits in WASSCE/NECO including Mathematics and English in one sitting.
• Full qualification or membership in ICAN, CITN or ACCA.
• At least 6 years of progressive corporate tax compliance experience, including direct engagement with revenue authority officials.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, statutory regulations and tax audit procedures.
• Advanced MS Excel.
• Knowledge of ERP and tax compliance software systems.
