Junior Accountant

About the role

A manufacturing client in Lagos, Nigeria, is hiring a detail-oriented, highly organized Junior Accountant through ACR Globe (AFCON Recruit Ltd.). The position is full-time and open to candidates with 0-2 years of experience; internship or NYSC experience is accepted. The Junior Accountant supports the finance team in keeping accurate records, handling day-to-day transactions and ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process daily financial transactions, post journal entries, update the general ledger and keep accounting documentation organized.
• Reconcile bank statements and company accounts, and process customer invoices, payments, receipts and expense claims; support accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Support payroll processing and statutory remittances, monitor petty cash balances, and assist in budget preparation and audit exercises.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 0-2 years of accounting experience; relevant internship or NYSC experience will be considered.
• Solid understanding of GAAP, the accounting cycle and basic financial statements (balance sheet, income statement).
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, high integrity and a commitment to accuracy.

Required skills

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks and SAP
