Site Engineer

About the role

This role oversees and organises engineering and construction operations directly at the project site. It is vital for turning architectural, structural and engineering blueprints into reality while keeping work aligned with approved designs, specifications and quality standards. The incumbent drives project timelines, manages resources and helps deliver testing, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and align engineering and construction efforts in the field environment.
• Translate and execute architectural, structural and engineering plans.
• Verify that construction follows approved designs, specifications and quality criteria.
• Track site advancement, workmanship, material usage and equipment status.
• Liaise with architects, consultants, contractors and subcontractors.
• Carry out on-site inspections, measurements and quality checks.
• Identify technical issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes and engineering standards.
• Produce daily site logs, progress reports and technical documentation.
• Contribute to project planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
• Oversee operations so that delivery stays within timeframes and budget.
• Facilitate testing, commissioning and final handover.

Required profile

• Proven ability to supervise and coordinate engineering and construction activities on site.
• Experience monitoring site progress, workmanship, materials and equipment.
• Experience coordinating with architects, consultants, contractors and subcontractors.
• Experience assisting with project planning, scheduling and resource management.
• Experience supporting testing, commissioning and handover of completed works.

Required skills

• Proficiency in reading and implementing architectural, structural and engineering drawings.
• Ability to carry out site inspections, measurements and quality checks.
• Knowledge of and adherence to health, safety, building codes and engineering standards.
• Competence in preparing daily site reports, progress updates and technical documentation.
