Senior Financial Controller

About the role

A fast-growing European packaging company, which plans to triple its revenue over the next three years, is building a scalable, automated financial infrastructure. As Senior Financial Controller you will own the forward-looking financial agenda, while the Finance Manager oversees historical accounting. The role suits someone who enjoys designing smart processes, automating systems and mentoring finance professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Forward-looking planning and system building (40%): design and automate financial forecasts, budgets, scenario models and liquidity tracking; set up financial frameworks for stock-keeping and inventory management.
• Complex compliance and project execution (25%): lead major compliance initiatives, including an automated system for the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) with EPR reporting, cost management and recyclability tracking before the August 2026 deadline.
• Strategic advisory and leadership support (25%): advise the CEO and COO, turn complex financial information into clear, data-driven recommendations, and mentor the Finance Manager toward a future CFO track.
• Mentorship and team leadership (10%): empower the team to run day-to-day accounting independently.

Required profile

• 8+ years of progressive experience in Cost Accounting, Financial Controlling and FP&A.
• 3+ years as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager.
• Experience designing and implementing automated financial systems and reporting frameworks.
• Experience leading major compliance or regulatory initiatives with strict deadlines (e.g. packaging tax, international tax, EPR).
• Background in manufacturing finance, including cost accounting, inventory management and subsidiary integration.
• Experience advising senior leadership and mentoring junior finance professionals.

What we offer

• Full-time remote position, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, GMT+1 or within two hours of that time zone.
