Finance and Administrative Officer

About the role

Watu, Africa's fastest-growing asset finance company, provides asset financing for motorcycles and three-wheelers to help entrepreneurs meet the needs of their families and communities. It is hiring a full-time Finance and Administrative Officer in Lagos, Nigeria, to manage financial operations, ensure accurate reporting and regulatory compliance, provide strategic financial insight and support risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Complete Excel sheets for HQ reporting accurately and on time
• Ensure the office complies with local, state and federal tax laws and advise on VAT for outgoing invoices
• Monitor cash flow and expenses, record all transactions, and monitor and reconcile bank balances with bank statements
• Assist HQ with payroll, including calculating tax and pension deductions
• Make tax payments and filings and keep receipts
• Monitor branch performance and report trends and red flags, and research tools for real-time reporting of branch KPIs
• Support annual audit processes (statutory, tax and data protection) and suggest improvements
• Report company expenses accurately and carry out other tasks requested by management

Required profile

• BSc in Accounting, or a bachelor's degree in management, finance or a related field; MBA or similar is a plus
• 3+ years of experience in administration, HR, finance or logistics
• Proven leadership experience managing and motivating high-performing sales teams
• Strong organization, planning, negotiation, communication and stress-management skills

• Ability to work with finance software such as Oracle and Peachtree
