Research Economist – Lead Research Team

About the role

We are a leading research and consultancy firm seeking a dynamic Research Economist to lead our research team in Lagos. The role involves conducting high‑level economic research, analysing data, and delivering strategic recommendations to a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct economic research on market trends, industry analysis, and policy developments.
• Perform market research on client businesses and competitors, derive insights and forecasts.
• Develop comprehensive proposals, business plans, and strategy documents.
• Lead, mentor and manage a team of researchers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to set research priorities.
• Prepare and present findings, reports and presentations to clients.
• Monitor economic trends, regulatory changes and industry developments.
• Identify new business opportunities through existing networks and new contacts.
• Review and analyse the effectiveness of business strategies and suggest improvements.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Economics, Social Sciences, Finance or related field (minimum 2:2/Upper Credit); Master’s degree is a plus.
• 5‑7 years of experience in a research or strategy role, preferably with consulting exposure.
• Proven leadership experience with ability to motivate and manage a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex concepts clearly.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Detail‑oriented and able to meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with contemporary data‑management software.
