PCB and Embedded System Engineer

About the role

The PCB and Embedded System Engineer will join UNICCON’s innovative hardware team to design, develop, and test printed circuit boards and embedded systems for robotics and other cutting‑edge products. This full‑time, on‑site position in Nigeria offers the chance to work on Africa’s first humanoid robot and other advanced technology projects.

Key responsibilities

• Create schematics, perform PCB layout, and select components using industry‑standard EDA tools.
• Develop firmware for microcontrollers and microprocessors, integrating sensors, actuators, and communication modules.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and product teams to translate requirements into functional designs.
• Prototype, debug, and validate designs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practices.
• Document designs, testing procedures, and iterative improvements based on field performance and user feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on documentation.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams on robotics, IoT, or consumer electronics is beneficial.

Required skills

• PCB design: schematic capture, layout, component selection, EDA tools.
• Embedded systems: microcontroller/microprocessor programming, firmware development, C/C++, basic scripting, version control.
• Hardware debugging: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal integrity, power management.
• Real‑time operating systems or bare‑metal programming.
• Testing and validation: prototyping, functional and stress testing, fault finding, reliability optimization.
