MERL Data Officer

About the role

The MERL & Data Officer supports the Strategic Operations Lead in keeping data on student progress, attendance and leadership development accurate, accessible and usable. The role covers daily attendance monitoring, data audits, assessment data handling, monthly attendance analysis and the production of termly MEL dashboards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily attendance monitoring for all classes and TEEP sessions, ensuring timely submission of data by every class.
• Work with the Strategic Operations Lead to set up and maintain user-friendly data collection platforms such as Google Forms or Sheets for attendance, assessments and projects.
• Carry out routine accuracy audits of data entries and work with staff to fix discrepancies at their source.
• Help create and refine a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for data collection so the system works independently of any single person.
• Oversee the logistics, scoring and data entry for TaRL baseline, mid-term and end-term assessments with the Curriculum Implementation Lead.
• Handle data for the annual entrance assessment, including baseline data promised to be republished after one year.
• Produce concise result summaries by class, level and subject, and monthly attendance analyses by class, day of the week and other trends, shared with the Curriculum Implementation Lead and Student Engagement Officer.
• Build a termly MEL dashboard aligned with TMA's four strategic outcomes: Academic Foundation, Problem-Solving and Leadership, Economic Empowerment and Long-Term Life Trajectory.
• Draft anonymized case studies and evidence summaries for reports and campaigns, following consent and anonymity rules.
• Aid termly learning reviews by preparing data and running sessions where staff analyse information and decide on actions.
• Keep all student and staff data in TMA-owned Google Workspace accounts, restricted to authorised personnel, and verify that published data is fully anonymised.
• Follow child protection and data privacy policies and report concerns to the Child Protection Officer.
