Mathematics Teacher

About the role

Better Treasure International School in Gbeganu, Minna is hiring a full-time Mathematics Teacher for junior secondary and/or senior secondary classes, depending on demonstrated competence. The teacher reports to the Vice Principal (Academics) and delivers the Nigerian curriculum, including exam preparation for BECE, WAEC, NECO and UTME/JAMB.

Key responsibilities

• Establish each student's mathematical starting point within the first two weeks of the term, including a baseline assessment and an individual progress record.
• Organise learning around measurable competencies and run focused, data-driven sessions such as retrieval practice, explicit instruction, guided practice, independent challenges and quick assessments.
• Personalise instruction with differentiated tasks, targeted remediation, flexible learning groups and extension work for advanced students.
• Develop mathematical reasoning and problem-solving, including explaining reasoning, comparing methods and applying maths to real-life situations.
• Deliver the Nigerian curriculum and prepare students for exams, using past questions and avoiding reliance on rote practice.
• Use approved digital resources, adaptive platforms and spreadsheets, and approved AI tools to generate and check practice questions.
• Build students' confidence and independence, encouraging them to ask questions, find their own errors and take responsibility for their learning.
