IT Specialist – Operations

About the role

The IT Specialist will support the efficient and effective operation of TechnoServe’s country office IT systems, reporting to the Operations Manager. This role ensures that all technology assets and services remain reliable and aligned with corporate standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain maximum uptime and reliability of IT systems, infrastructure, and services across the main office and sub‑offices.
• Perform routine monitoring and maintenance of hardware and software.
• Install, configure, and deploy laptops, mobile devices, and software following corporate security policies.
• Provide end‑user support for laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, CCTV and biometric systems.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot printers, networks, and other peripherals.
• Manage a pool of spare IT equipment and support staff onboarding with device provisioning.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network infrastructure (routers, switches, access points) to ensure continuous connectivity.
• Perform firmware updates and preventive maintenance on all IT equipment.
• Collaborate with the Regional IT Manager to enforce corporate IT policies.
• Assist Operations in developing local IT procedures aligned with global standards.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Reports to the Operations Manager and supports country‑office IT operations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage end‑user support and resolve technical issues.
• Experience maintaining network infrastructure and performing preventive maintenance.

Required skills

• Installation, configuration, and deployment of laptops and mobile devices.
• Diagnostic and resolution of hardware/software issues for desktops, printers, scanners, CCTV and biometric systems.
• Network troubleshooting and maintenance of routers, switches, and access points.
• Firmware updates and preventive maintenance of IT equipment.
• End‑user support and device provisioning for new staff.
