Human Resources Generalist – Hospital Facility & Laundry Operations

About the role

The position is responsible for the day‑to‑day cleaning, security and laundry operations within a hospital environment. It supports safe and sanitary conditions for patients, staff and visitors while ensuring the laundry department runs efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and safety of all hospital areas, including floors, entrances, walls, furniture and fixtures.
• Perform security duties such as locking/unlocking the building, monitoring staff‑only zones and assisting during emergencies.
• Oversee the laundry department to ensure linen is properly cleaned, folded and stocked to meet organizational needs.
• Ensure a hazard‑free environment through regular inspections of furniture and equipment.
• Remove soiled linen and refuse promptly to maintain sanitary conditions.
• Provide short‑notice shift coverage as required and adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Support the mission, vision and values of Deep River and District Health.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Housekeeping, infection prevention and control, or related certifications preferred.
• Experience in an acute‑care hospital or long‑term care setting preferred.
• Ability to work independently, coordinate tasks with team members and follow infection control protocols.
• Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to support safe and efficient operation of the organization and deliver excellent service to clients.
