Plant Nurse (Occupational Health)

About the role

Dangote Packaging Limited is looking for a Plant Nurse to deliver occupational healthcare support to staff on rotating shift schedules in a high-volume polypropylene sack manufacturing facility. The nurse drives workplace health and safety initiatives, provides prompt medical intervention for injuries and illnesses, and keeps employee clinical records and occupational health documentation accurate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first aid, basic treatment and emergency care when required.
• Assess workplace injuries and illnesses, and arrange further medical attention where needed.
• Support occupational health initiatives, health education and preventive care.
• Maintain first-aid equipment, medical supplies and their records.
• Keep confidential, accurate patient records and complete incident reports.
• Work with other Plant Nurses, management and the HSSE team to promote a safe, healthy workplace.
• Cascade occupational and industrial injuries and accidents to the Head HSSE and Sustainability and other plant leadership as soon as they occur.
• Compile and share weekly and monthly clinic reports with the Head HSSE and Sustainability.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) certification or a Diploma/Degree in Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.) from an accredited institution.
• Valid, current practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) or an equivalent national regulator.
• At least 3 to 5 years of active clinical nursing experience; prior exposure to occupational health, industrial/factory clinics, emergency triage or accident and emergency departments is preferred.
• Willingness to work flexible, rotating 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Industrial clinical triage: handling trauma, crush injuries, burns, chemical exposure and acute emergencies in continuous manufacturing.
• Confidential medical record keeping, incident reporting and compliance with HSE standards.
• Clear communication with factory staff and coordination with external health providers and HMOs during medical evacuations.
