Head of Account

About the role

A Head of Account position based in Lagos, within the manufacturing and warehousing sector. The role covers financial accounting, bank and cash management, payroll, receivables and payables, fixed assets and stock accounting, statutory compliance and supervision of finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly financial statements and review financials from trial balance to final statements, ensuring books comply with accounting standards
• Supervise daily accounting operations and ensure proper documentation and audit trails
• Post and upload bank payment vouchers, execute bank payments and prepare bank reconciliations regularly
• Review permanent staff payroll (including overtime and loan deductions), weekly casual staff and monthly contract staff salaries, and ensure timely disbursement
• Post customer lodgements daily, clear and reconcile customer ledgers, and verify supplier invoices
• Maintain the fixed assets register (tagging, physical verification, reconciliation) and ensure proper accounting, valuation and reconciliation of inventory and stock, coordinating with stores and operations
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and file statutory dues such as PAYE, WHT, VAT, CIT, ITF and NSITF on time
• Handle tax matters, coordinate with tax authorities and auditors, and support statutory, internal and external audits
• Establish and monitor internal controls, supervise finance staff and support management with financial analysis and reports

Required profile

• HND in Accounting/Accountancy from a reputable institution with at least a 2:2 degree
• At least 7-10 years of hands-on experience
• Experience in the manufacturing or trading sector
• ICAN certification
• Within the age range of 38-45 years old
• Managerial or leadership experience is an added advantage

Required skills

• Accounting and ERP systems, preferably Odoo
• Bank reconciliation, payroll accounting and statutory compliance
