General Manager, Marketplace & Brand Partnerships

About the role

VeendHQ is seeking a seasoned commercial leader to head its Marketplace & Brand Partnerships function. The General Manager will design and execute the strategy to acquire high‑volume merchant checkout partners and forge strategic FMCG brand collaborations, driving BNPL demand and marketplace growth across Nigeria.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement VeendHQ’s marketplace partnership roadmap, targeting airlines, travel, transportation, retail and other high‑volume sectors.
• Acquire and manage merchant checkout partners to generate sustainable BNPL origination volume.
• Build and nurture strategic partnerships with FMCG brands and manufacturers for brand‑funded campaigns and customer rewards.
• Lead commercial negotiations from prospecting through contract signing and execution.
• Design, recruit and lead a high‑performing Marketplace & Brand Partnerships team.
• Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Operations, Risk, Legal and Lending teams to ensure successful partner onboarding.
• Monitor partnership performance, optimise commercial outcomes and establish scalable reporting and forecasting processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in FMCG trade marketing, key account management, merchant acquiring, retail partnerships or commercial business development.
• At least 3 years in a director‑level or senior commercial leadership role.
• Proven track record of closing strategic partnerships worth ₦100 M+ GMV.
• Demonstrated ability to build and execute commercial strategy at scale within Nigeria.

Required skills

• Strong negotiation and relationship‑management capabilities.
• Experience in commercial team leadership and performance management.
• Deep understanding of marketplace dynamics, BNPL products and merchant acquisition.
