Financial System Strengthening Associate Consultant – Sokoto State

About the role

The Financial System Strengthening (FSS) Associate Consultant will work closely with the IPM Specialist, the Financial Management Team and the Health Programme Team to support the Sokoto State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the Sokoto State Ministry of Health. This 12‑month consultancy is office‑based in Sokoto and focuses on strengthening financial management systems under the EU SARAH grant.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to improve budgeting, financial reporting and internal control processes for donor‑funded health programmes.
• Support compliance with EU grant requirements, including donor reporting, audit preparation and capacity‑building for government staff.
• Collaborate with state health authorities to align financial management practices with national public financial management standards.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; professional accounting qualification (CPA, ICAN, ACCA) is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, donor compliance and partnership management, preferably in health programmes.
• Demonstrated experience working with government institutions or sub‑national health agencies.

Required skills
