Account Officer – Finance Role

About the role

The Account Officer will ensure accurate financial data processing and manage all financial operations for our nonprofit projects, supporting the mission of empowering women and girls.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy of data for financial transactions and maintain the accounting package.
• Manage cash/bank transactions, accounts receivable, accruals, payroll preparation and salary payments.
• Prepare bank reconciliations weekly and monthly, and resolve discrepancies.
• Oversee statutory deductions (WHT, VAT, PAYE, Pension) and ensure timely remittance.
• Work with external auditors for a clean year‑end audit and prepare monthly financial reports.
• Handle utility bills, vendor invoices, tax levies and general bookkeeping.
• Maintain cash flow, petty cash disbursement, and records of prepaid assets.
• Participate in improving accounting systems and internal controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience in finance or accounting, preferably within an NGO or nonprofit.
• Strong attention to detail, organization and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work under senior finance supervision and handle multiple tasks.
