Finance Officer

About the role

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is hiring a Finance Officer to support the CGPP Bauchi Project and the Finance department's management of accounting systems, policies and procedures. The officer works within an experienced finance team, coordinating daily financial activities in line with CRS accounting standards, GAAP, donor rules and legal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review and support documentation of financial transactions so that all required documents are accurate and complete.
• Maintain the data needed to process financial transactions for assigned accounts in the Insight financial accounting package.
• Record delegated financial transactions after appropriate authorizations.
• Review accounts to detect irregularities.
• Help evaluate subrecipient financial management processes and strengthen partners' capacity in financial accounting.
• Prepare financial reports and share information with subrecipients and staff on accounting policies and compliance.
• Perform other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration.
• Minimum of two years of accounting experience.
• CPA or ACCA certification.
• Preferably experience in an international or local NGO or a financial/banking institution.
• Familiarity with relevant public donors' regulations and knowledge of financial reporting software.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%; location is Abuja.
• No supervisory responsibilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Excel; experience with Word and PowerPoint.
• Analytical skills to detect and report inconsistencies.
• Attention to detail, ethical conduct and collaboration.
