Finance Officer

About the role

HOPE360 AID (HOPE 360 Initiative for Peace) is seeking a Finance Officer for its Maiduguri office in Borno State, Nigeria. The role reports directly to the Project Manager within the Finance and Administration department and is full time or contract depending on the project. It covers financial record keeping, budget tracking, expenditure management and financial reporting, in line with organizational policies, donor regulations and legal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate ledgers, cashbooks and general accounts, reconcile transactions and keep a systematic filing system.
• Prepare payment vouchers with valid supporting documents and approvals, manage petty cash and conduct regular bank reconciliations.
• Assist in developing project budgets and expenditure forecasts, track spending against approved budgets and produce variance analysis reports.
• Compile monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including expenditure summaries, cash flow forecasts and financial statements, and support donor-specific reporting.
• Process approved payments to vendors, consultants, staff and beneficiaries, and track staff cash advances until retired.
• Enforce financial policies, segregation of duties and authorization protocols, and report irregularities, unsupported expenses or potential fraud.
• Support internal and external audits, manage statutory deductions and remittances, and review purchase requests, quotations and invoices with procurement and logistics.
• Help update asset registers and inventory records, advise programme teams and guide finance assistants.
