Finance Manager – Nigeria Country Program

About the role

PATH’s Nigeria affiliate is looking for a Finance Manager to lead the financial oversight of its Country Program in Abuja. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, you will ensure accurate accounting, compliance with local regulations, and effective financial reporting to support the organization’s health‑equity mission.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including expenditures, payroll, tax compliance, travel and disbursements.
• Maintain accurate and timely financial performance reporting for internal and statutory purposes.
• Manage relationships with banks and ensure cost‑effective delivery of banking services.
• Update financial forecasts, highlight challenges or opportunities, and enforce budgetary controls.
• Prepare monthly performance reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Supervise the finance team in expense classification, General Ledger posting, and BW updates.
• Produce cash‑flow projections and coordinate with PATH Treasury for funding.
• Oversee monthly payroll processing and ensure statutory deductions are remitted on time.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax, VAT, and personal income tax regulations.
• Collaborate with the International Accounting Services team for month‑end and year‑end close, and reconcile clearing accounts.
• Lead internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
• Prepare and submit NGO Coordination Board annual returns and NRS tax returns.
• Support smaller projects with financial management as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience overseeing financial operations in a nonprofit or similar organization.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax, VAT, and payroll regulations.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and cash‑flow projections.
• Ability to coordinate audits and implement recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with banks, project teams, and senior management.
