Finance Associate – Nigeria Country Program

About the role

PATH’s local affiliate in Nigeria, the Organization for Innovation in Public Health (OIPH), is looking for a Finance Associate to join its Country Program office in Abuja. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the associate will ensure accurate processing of accounts payable, compliance with finance policies, and support for project financial activities.

Key responsibilities

• Process all accounts payable in line with PATH policy and project guidelines.
• Validate payment requests and invoices, ensuring proper supporting documentation.
• Enter financial data into the ERP system following GAAP and PATH standards.
• Prepare payments, record banking entries, and perform assigned bank duties.
• Reconcile supplier statements with ERP ledger balances and resolve discrepancies.
• Review and approve staff travel expense reports.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of the accounts payable ledger and bank statements, including mobile money transactions.
• Support month‑end closing tasks as directed by the Finance Manager.
• Assist with audit preparation, including schedule creation and document retrieval.
• Provide training to staff on accounting manuals, policies, and financial requirements.
• Liaise closely with the Abuja office Finance Officer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.
• Professional accountancy qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
• At least 5 years of experience in a busy NGO finance department.
• Experience with USAID‑funded projects is a plus.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with project teams.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
• Legal authorization to work in Nigeria.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
• Hands‑on experience with Business World software (preferred).
• Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
