Budget & Accounting Assistant – Finance, Contract & Audit

About the role

The Budget / Accounting Assistant supports the Finance, Contract and Audit (FCA) Section of the EU Delegation in Abuja. Working under the Head of Section, the role involves assisting with the contractual and financial management of EU‑funded projects and programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to sound financial management, ensuring legality and regularity of transactions.
• Support tender procedures, calls for proposals, contract drafting and administration.
• Process payments, recoveries and monitor financial flows.
• Follow up audit matters and ensure compliance with EU financial rules.
• Advise operational sections, beneficiaries and contractors on contractual, financial and audit issues.
• Adapt to changing delegation needs and undertake additional tasks as required.

Required profile

• Ability to work under supervision and collaborate within a 12‑person finance team.
• Flexibility to handle occasional atypical working hours.
• Familiarity with EU funding procedures and financial regulations is advantageous.
