Cashier / Virtual Cashier

About the role

This role focuses on managing and documenting customer payments through authorised digital platforms, issuing transaction receipts and handling basic payment enquiries. It requires precision in numerical work, integrity, attention to detail and basic computer skills. The position is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Process customer payments using point-of-sale systems, bank transfers, online gateways or other approved digital methods.
• Confirm payment status and validate transaction reference numbers.
• Generate and send digital receipts together with payment confirmations.
• Keep accurate, up-to-date logs of daily financial activity and cross-check them against sales data and transaction reports.
• Spot and escalate issues such as transaction errors, failed payments, refund requests and chargebacks.
• Answer simple customer questions about payment processes and compile daily transaction summaries for supervisors or the accounting department.
• Keep customer and financial data confidential and follow organisational protocols on payments, refunds and financial security.

Required profile

• Zero to two years of experience in cashiering, customer support, sales, finance or administration.
• Strong aptitude for numerical calculation and keeping organised records.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Stable internet connection and a working computer or smartphone.
• High degree of trustworthiness and meticulous attention to detail.

Required skills

• Familiarity with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
