Fractional Head of Strategic Communications & Brand

About the role

LoftyInc Capital, a pan-African early-stage venture capital firm backing 150+ companies across 25 African markets, is looking for a trusted communications adviser to work directly with its leadership on how the firm presents itself. This is a fractional role of about 15-20 hours per week, fully remote with a weekly leadership sync and possible limited travel; it suits an experienced professional who can operate at a senior level independently.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the firm's external narrative and advise on positioning for the Managing Partner and leadership, owning the communications and thought leadership roadmap.
• Pursue and coordinate high-value media, speaking and publication opportunities, and evaluate events and sponsorships by ROI.
• Coordinate with event organisers and prepare leadership briefs, talking points and messaging.
• Define content, maintain quality across LinkedIn, media, the website and other platforms, and direct agencies and freelancers.
• Amplify portfolio stories, explore a quarterly portfolio or ecosystem newsletter, and advise portfolio companies on communications.
• Act as a thought partner to leadership, anticipate reputational risks and lead communications during sensitive situations or crises.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in strategic communications, PR, brand or thought leadership, advising senior executives, founders or investors.
• Excellent writing, editing, storytelling and editorial judgment.
• Confidence to advise senior leadership and work autonomously in a fast-moving environment.
• Established media and event relationships and familiarity with VC, startups and the African tech ecosystem are a plus.
