Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will develop and maintain accounting policies, support budgeting and forecasting, and ensure accurate financial reporting in line with the company's objectives and Nigerian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and update financial policies, procedures and strategies.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and budget review processes.
• Conduct daily call‑overs of financial records, investigate exceptions and ensure timely resolution.
• Provide costing and margin information for pricing, purchasing and profitability decisions.
• Monitor cost movements, investigate material variances and recommend control improvements.
• Prepare payroll calculations, ensuring correct PAYE and statutory deductions.
• Maintain asset registers, reconcile with accounting records and investigate differences.
• Manage relationships with banks, regulators, external auditors and other stakeholders.
• Supervise and develop the Accounts and Administration Officer, providing coaching on accounting processes.

Required profile

• First degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Full membership of ICAN or an internationally recognised equivalent (ACCA, CIMA).
• 3‑5 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, statutory compliance and payroll.
• Working knowledge of the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, Pension Reform Act, NDPA 2023 and related regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Sage accounting software.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
