About the role

Widestride International Limited manages the WIL Balanced Asset, a discretionary private investment product offering a balanced mix of capital growth, income and risk mitigation. It is hiring a Capital Markets / Securities Trader (full time, hybrid, mid-senior level) to identify, evaluate and execute profitable trading opportunities across equities, fixed-income securities, treasury bills, bonds and other approved instruments, while managing risk and maintaining liquidity.

Key responsibilities

• Execute buy and sell transactions across equities, bonds, treasury bills and other approved securities, monitor prices, volumes and liquidity, and manage positions within approved strategies and exposure limits.
• Carry out fundamental and technical analysis, monitor the Nigerian capital market (NGX, FMDQ), interest rates and monetary policy, and provide market intelligence and recommendations to management.
• Develop trading strategies to meet revenue and profitability targets, track profitability and transaction costs, and recommend portfolio adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, market rules and internal policies; monitor exposure, counterparty and liquidity risks; collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Finance and Operations on settlement and reconciliation.
• Maintain relationships with stockbrokers, dealers, banks and asset managers, and prepare daily trading reports, market updates and periodic portfolio performance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience in securities trading, capital markets, investment banking, asset management or treasury operations.
• Demonstrable experience trading equities, fixed-income securities, treasury bills or bonds.
• Strong understanding of the Nigerian capital market, including NGX, FMDQ and SEC regulations.
• Relevant professional qualifications such as CIS, CFA or ACI, and SEC registration or professional licensing where required, are an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modelling, market analysis tools and trading platforms.
• Strong numerical, analytical, decision-making and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
