Restaurant Cashier

About the role

A restaurant in Lagos (Marina) is hiring a full-time cashier to handle payments, point-of-sale transactions and daily cash reporting. The role works closely with the accountant, counter sales attendants, waiters and the floor supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Receive payments for food, drinks and other services, using cash, POS, bank transfers and other approved methods
• Issue receipts, verify bills and pricing, and record every transaction correctly
• Operate the restaurant's POS system accurately and reconcile cash received against POS sales and reports at the end of each shift
• Report shortages, excess cash, failed transactions and discrepancies to management immediately
• Ensure discounts, refunds, complimentary meals and cancelled transactions are authorised by management
• Prepare daily cash reports, submit sales proceeds to the supervisor or accountant and keep cash, receipts and POS terminals secure
• Handle billing enquiries and minor payment complaints professionally
• Keep the cashier station clean and organised, and follow company policies and internal controls

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years of experience
• Minimum of an OND in a related field
