Barista

About the role

Cafe Verde Enterprises is hiring a full-time barista in Marina, Lagos. The role covers making coffee, matcha, teas, smoothies and other drinks, operating café equipment and serving customers, with a stated monthly remuneration of NGN 200,000.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee, matcha, teas, smoothies and other drinks according to approved recipes.
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders and other café equipment correctly.
• Maintain consistent drink quality, measurements, temperature and presentation.
• Welcome customers, explain menu items and make suitable recommendations.
• Take orders accurately, record every sale on the POS system and direct payments to approved accounts or terminals, confirming them through the company's verification process.
• Keep the counter, preparation areas, equipment and utensils clean and organised.
• Monitor stock levels, label ingredients, follow storage and rotation procedures, and record wastage, remakes and complimentary drinks.
• Follow food safety procedures, handle dietary requests and allergens carefully, and complete opening, closing and cleaning duties.
• Work with colleagues to serve orders promptly and resolve customer concerns professionally.

Required profile

• Previous barista or café experience is preferred; entry-level position.
• Willingness to learn Café Verde's coffee, matcha and speciality drink recipes.
• Availability for early mornings, weekends and public holidays as scheduled.

Required skills

• Knowledge of espresso preparation, milk steaming and drink preparation.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic numeracy and familiarity with POS systems.
• Honesty, punctuality, attention to detail and ability to work efficiently during busy periods.
