Pastry Chef Assistant

About the role

Cafe Verde Enterprises is hiring a Pastry Chef Assistant in Lagos (Marina area) to support the pastry chef in preparing and finishing baked goods for the café. The role covers weighing ingredients, mixing, baking, packaging and keeping the kitchen tidy, and requires availability for early mornings, weekends and public holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the pastry chef with cookies, cakes, brownies, breads and other baked goods.
• Weigh and measure ingredients accurately according to recipes.
• Prepare baking trays, moulds, equipment and workstations before production.
• Help mix, portion, shape, bake, fill and decorate products under supervision.
• Package and label finished products for display, takeaway and delivery.
• Follow standard recipes, portion sizes and presentation guidelines.
• Store ingredients correctly, label preparation dates and rotate stock; monitor ingredient levels and report shortages.
• Keep the kitchen, utensils and equipment clean and organised.
• Follow food safety, personal hygiene and allergen-handling procedures.
• Help maintain production records and minimise waste.

Required profile

• Basic baking knowledge; previous bakery or kitchen experience is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
• Good organisation, cleanliness and attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and to stand for extended periods.
• Punctuality, honesty and reliability.
• Availability for early mornings, weekends and public holidays as scheduled.
