About the role

Cafe Verde Enterprises is hiring a full-time Chef for its restaurant in Lagos (Marina, with the location also listed as Lekki Phase 1/Victoria Island). The chef prepares and cooks menu items, develops new dishes and keeps the kitchen running smoothly during service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to approved recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Prepare ingredients and organise workstations before service; ensure orders are accurate, well presented and served promptly.
• Develop and test new dishes, including breakfast items, sandwiches, light meals and seasonal specials.
• Monitor ingredient quality, stock levels and expiry dates, and communicate purchasing needs.
• Store food correctly, follow stock rotation procedures and maintain daily preparation, production and wastage records.
• Control portions and ingredient usage to manage food costs and minimise waste.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow food safety and allergen-handling procedures.
• Use kitchen equipment safely and report faults promptly.
• Coordinate with service staff and supervise kitchen assistants where assigned.

Required profile

• At least two years of professional cooking experience in a café, restaurant or hotel.
• Experience preparing breakfast dishes, sandwiches and light meals.
• Availability for early mornings, weekends and public holidays as scheduled.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen hygiene.
• Ability to follow recipes and deliver consistent quality during busy service periods.
• Strong organisation, time management and teamwork skills, punctuality and attention to detail.
• Culinary training or certification is an advantage.
