Senior Quality Engineer (Test Automation)

About the role

BlueOcean Tech Services is recruiting experienced technical professionals to support an international AI technology client. You will work with a fast‑moving product team building and scaling AI‑powered software for professional users. The product is already live and is preparing for significant expansion, so we’re looking for people who can take ownership of their function, work independently and help maintain a high standard of quality and delivery as the product grows.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain browser automation using Playwright or an equivalent tool, as well as API test suites from an OpenAPI specification and load tests.
• Test the product through its published API contract and running application without access to backend source code.
• Write the test strategy, defining what is tested at each layer, what is deliberately not tested, and why.
• Design the severity scheme, run defect triage and drive defects to closure.
• Turn production errors and traces into reproducible defects.
• Decide, with appropriate authority, whether a release is ready to ship.
• Help determine when and how the QA function should grow.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience writing test automation code that can be reviewed.
• Experience testing systems you cannot see inside, including black‑box or contract testing.
• A record of having stopped a release or disagreed with an engineer about a defect.
• Daily use of AI coding assistants with a clear understanding of what to verify and what not to trust.
• Excellent written English for asynchronous decision‑making.
• Experience using Google Workspace and Jira.
• Experience working with a US‑facing team.
• Commitment to at least 4 hours of overlap each working day with US Central Time (roughly 4 PM–9 PM WAT) and reliable backup power plus a second internet connection.
