Data Center Engineer – Professional Services

About the role

Techware Professional Services Ltd is seeking a Data Center Engineer to deliver high‑impact infrastructure solutions and managed services to enterprise clients across Nigeria and West Africa. The role combines client‑facing consulting, on‑site deployment, and technical advisory to ensure resilient, scalable data‑center operations.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with account managers to assess client requirements, conduct site surveys, and design tailored data‑center architectures.
• Develop deliverables such as rack elevation diagrams, power/cooling topology maps, and statements of work.
• Lead on‑site deployments, greenfield builds, hardware refreshes, and migration projects.
• Rack, stack, provision, and configure enterprise servers, blade systems, and hyper‑converged infrastructure.
• Deploy and manage virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi, KVM, Nutanix) and perform server lifecycle management.
• Assess power distribution (PDUs, UPS, ATS) and thermal management (CRAC/CRAH) to optimize PUE.
• Install structured cabling, configure SAN/NAS storage arrays, and implement FC zoning, iSCSI, NFS/SMB.
• Configure Layer 2/3 networking, VLANs, routing, and firewall rules to support compute and storage traffic.

Required profile

• 2–3+ years of hands‑on experience in enterprise data‑center operations, professional services, or IT consulting.
• Proven ability to engage with clients, articulate technical solutions, and manage on‑site delivery projects.
• Solid understanding of power delivery, UPS systems, generators, and HVAC dynamics.
• Experience with enterprise storage systems and capacity planning.

• Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Cisco UCS hardware.
• VMware vSphere/ESXi, KVM, Nutanix hypervisors.
• iDRAC, iLO, Cisco UCS Manager for out‑of‑band management.
• Power distribution units, UPS, ATS, CRAC/CRAH cooling equipment.
• Fiber‑optic patching, structured copper cabling, labeling standards.
• Enterprise SAN/NAS (Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage) with FC zoning, iSCSI, NFS/SMB.
• Layer 2/3 switch and router configuration, VLANs, trunking, IP routing.
• Firewall rule configuration, ACLs, DMZ segmentation, VPN access.
• DCIM tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, NetBox for architecture diagrams.
