Accountant – Financial Reporting & Compliance

About the role

Okazi Finance Limited is seeking a diligent Accountant to join its finance team in Lagos. The role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing comprehensive reports, and ensuring full regulatory compliance within a fast‑growing financial services environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date accounting records, record daily transactions and reconcile accounts.
• Prepare and manage the general ledger, perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.
• Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Analyse financial data, monitor cash flow, income, expenses, assets and liabilities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and statutory obligations, including VAT, WHT and PAYE.
• Support internal and external audits and liaise with regulatory bodies.
• Assist in budgeting, financial forecasting and variance analysis.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, process invoices, payments and collections.
• Implement internal controls, identify financial risks and recommend mitigation measures.
• Assist with payroll processing and statutory deductions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA or ACA is an advantage.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in banking, fintech or micro‑finance.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to work independently and support cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
