Accountant / Bookkeeper – FMCG Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage day‑to‑day financial operations for a fast‑moving FMCG sachet seasoning manufacturer in Lagos. The role will ensure accurate product costing, inventory accounting and timely financial reporting to support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain bookkeeping records for sales, purchases, expenses and payroll using accounting software.
• Develop and update product costing models for raw materials, packaging and production overhead.
• Track cost of goods sold and monitor gross margins by product/SKU.
• Perform inventory accounting, reconciling physical stock counts with book records.
• Conduct regular bank reconciliations across all company accounts.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow summary.
• Monitor accounts receivable and payable, following up on outstanding payments.
• Support budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax and statutory filing requirements.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants as needed.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3–5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, preferably in FMCG, manufacturing or packaging.
• Experience with product costing and inventory accounting.
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
• Integrity and ability to work independently to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Zoho Books.
• Advanced Excel skills.
