WASH and Construction Officer – Katsina, Nigeria

About the role

Save the Children Nigeria is seeking a WASH and Construction Officer to lead technical oversight of construction and WASH infrastructure for its Education in Emergencies project in Katsina (and Yobe) State. The role combines feasibility assessments, design work, procurement support and on‑site supervision to ensure safe, inclusive learning environments for crisis‑affected children.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies for classrooms, temporary learning spaces, latrines, hand‑washing stations and boreholes.
• Prepare architectural and engineering designs, drawings, Bills of Quantities (BoQ), specifications and cost estimates.
• Develop tender documents, support procurement processes and coordinate with the Supply Chain team.
• Supervise contractors, conduct regular field monitoring and ensure compliance with Save the Children construction standards.
• Produce monitoring reports using standardized tools and maintain construction quality checklists.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering, construction management, architecture or a related field.
• Experience working on construction or WASH projects in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Ability to work in the field (minimum 40% travel) and coordinate with education and child protection teams.
