Transport Operations Controller

About the role

The Transport Operations Controller is responsible for overseeing daily fleet activities, ensuring efficient haulage services for clients such as Nigerian Breweries and cold‑chain logistics partners. The role focuses on route planning, fleet coordination, safety, and cost optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and optimise routes while overseeing fleet coordination.
• Maintain fleet records in systems such as EDD, Instanta, and i‑Manager.
• Monitor fuel consumption and benchmark productivity and utilisation.
• Ensure loading orders are met, trucks are correctly kitted, and trips are updated and terminated in i‑Manager.
• Track service mileage, enforce speed limits, and manage tonnage capacity.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip briefings, toolbox meetings, and safety inspections.
• Liaise with clients, field officers, and HSE teams to resolve operational issues.
• Document incidents, accidents, and insurance claims promptly.
• Use tracking platforms to report daily truck positions and ensure on‑time delivery.
• Manage fuel issuance according to approved charts and collect PODs from clients.
• Escalate major issues to the Senior Fleet Controller and maintain fleet files.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fleet or transport operations management.
• Strong understanding of logistics, cold‑chain requirements and safety regulations.
• Ability to analyse data, monitor KPIs and implement cost‑saving measures.
• Excellent communication skills for client and internal stakeholder coordination.
