Procurement Manager

About the role

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc is looking for a Procurement Manager to lead and manage end-to-end procurement activities, from demand identification and sourcing through contracting, supplier management, renewal and close-out. The role delivers cost optimisation, quality, supply continuity and value for money while ensuring compliance with procurement policies, governance standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement and category strategies aligned with business priorities, demand plans and budgets.
• Lead strategic sourcing events (RFI, RFQ, RFP) and oversee supplier identification, prequalification, evaluation, selection, negotiation and contract award.
• Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers and conduct spend and market analysis to find cost optimisation opportunities.
• Partner with business units on demand forecasting and procurement solutions; manage supplier relationships and performance against SLAs, KPIs and contractual obligations.
• Oversee contract management, including execution, renewals, variations, expiry and supplier governance.
• Identify and mitigate procurement, supply chain, contractual and third-party risks, and maintain procurement documentation and audit trails.
• Provide procurement advice and market intelligence to stakeholders, support business planning and budgeting, and track procurement KPIs such as cost savings, supplier performance and sourcing cycle times.
• Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, controls and ways of working.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 to 13 years' experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain management or commercial negotiation.
• Experience managing end-to-end sourcing, vendor management, cost optimisation, contract administration and supplier performance management.
• Membership of a recognised professional body such as CIPS or CIPSMN is an added advantage; experience in telecommunications, fintech, financial services or technology is also an added advantage.
