Technical Program Manager, Deployments (Nigeria)
Zipline · Abuja
Job description
About the role
Zipline, the world's largest drone delivery service, is looking for a Technical Program Manager to lead the end-to-end execution of its Nigeria deployments. The role owns the integrated deployment plan, operating cadence, tools and processes needed to turn a portfolio of distribution center launches into predictable, repeatable execution, working across Nigeria-based and global teams.
Key responsibilities
- Own the master deployment plan across multiple concurrent distribution center launches in Nigeria, linking construction, procurement, shipping, hardware commissioning, regulatory approvals, software and operations readiness, hiring and training.
- Maintain a single source of truth for program health, site readiness, dependencies and critical-path milestones, aiming to launch new centers in under three months.
- Lead execution across Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction, Logistics, Regulatory, Operations, Finance and Nigeria country teams, identifying risks early and ensuring clear ownership and escalation paths.
- Act as the central coordination point during commissioning and launch windows, partnering with Nigeria leadership to align deployments with customer commitments.
- Build scalable planning tools, stage gates, dashboards, templates, playbooks and readiness checklists, and establish metrics on schedule, readiness, quality and cost.
- Run weekly program reviews, executive status updates, risk reviews, launch readiness reviews and post-launch retrospectives, providing concise, decision-oriented reporting.
Required profile
- 6+ years leading complex technical, operational, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, deployment or supply chain programs.
- Proven track record managing large cross-functional programs with long-lead dependencies, accountable for schedule, quality and cost.
- Experience launching complex physical infrastructure or operational systems; experience in Nigeria or a comparable environment is highly preferred.
- History of improving schedule predictability, launch readiness, deployment cost or execution quality, and of driving programs through execution.
- Willingness to travel regularly within Nigeria and internationally, and to work across time zones and outside normal hours during launches.
Required skills
- Integrated planning, critical-path management, risk and dependency management, and escalation frameworks.
- Program and scheduling tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Primavera, Jira and Airtable, plus dashboard building.
- Ability to coordinate large cross-functional teams without direct authority and to communicate clearly across global teams.
