Tax Executive

About the role

The Tax Executive manages tax compliance, reporting, planning and advisory, ensuring adherence to Nigerian tax regulations while minimising tax risks and optimising tax efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage timely filing and payment of CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, TET and other applicable taxes.
• Ensure compliance with FIRS, State Internal Revenue Services and relevant tax regulations.
• Support tax planning, advisory, provisions and financial statement disclosures.
• Monitor tax legislation and assess its impact on business operations.
• Advise on tax implications of contracts, transactions, expatriate taxation and intercompany dealings.
• Maintain accurate tax records, strengthen internal controls and support tax audits.
• Drive process improvements and automation of tax reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• ICAN or ACCA certification.
• 3-5 years of relevant tax experience, preferably in a multinational or large corporate organisation.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, FIRS practices and tax compliance requirements.
• Preferred: experience in manufacturing, oil and gas or free zone operations, and knowledge of tax incentives, export processing zones and cross-border taxation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably Oracle Fusion, and tax reporting tools.
• Analytical, communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
