Tax and Financial Auditor

About the role

A Tax and Financial Auditor is needed in Lagos, Rivers and Abuja. The role involves visiting clients to examine and analyse tax documents and financial records, analysing accounting systems, designing audit plans and ensuring strict compliance with documents and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Visit clients to examine and analyse tax documents and financial records
• Analyse accounting systems and develop audit plans based on common standards of practice, company policies, business goals and industry regulations
• Maintain all required paperwork and administer internal audits
• Identify risks and review financial materials to spot errors, inefficiencies or misuse
• Confirm clients' holdings, account balances and debt obligations by reviewing databases and other financial sources
• Determine taxable income, applicable tax deductions and non-taxable expenses
• Document internal processes, data sources and conclusions, and share periodic status reports and final reports with the team
• Participate in professional development and keep sensitive information confidential
• Carry out investigations into internal systems, errors and fraud, and provide feedback reports on findings
• Evaluate financial statements and assess accounts for accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Review stock-take, inventory, staff allowances, payroll and personnel costs, investments, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, credit control policy and GL integrity

Required profile

• BSc/HND in Accounting or a related field
• Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) is an advantage
• 3+ years of relevant experience in audit, financial control and direct assessment of enterprises for state or federal government revenue services
• Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
• Work experience in an auditing firm is an added advantage

Required skills

• Knowledge of tax and financial auditing, relevant laws and accounting standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint and other Office tools
