Manager, Internal Control

About the role

A fast-growing distributed energy company operating in Nigeria is looking for a Manager, Internal Control to strengthen its internal control environment across finance, operations and project execution. The business deploys energy systems across multiple locations and sites, and the role ensures effective internal controls, reliable financial reporting, regulatory compliance and protection of operational assets as the company scales. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor internal controls and operational and financial controls
• Handle audit and compliance matters
• Conduct fraud prevention and investigations
• Optimize systems and controls
• Engage stakeholders and report on control performance

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline
• Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CISA or CIA preferred
• 5-8 years of experience in internal control, audit, risk management or compliance roles
• Experience in renewable energy, power, utilities, infrastructure, construction or project-based organizations is an advantage

Required skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, attention to detail and strong documentation skills
• Effective communication and stakeholder management
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel
