Software Engineering Team Lead (FinTech)

About the role

Join our growing FinTech engineering team as a Software Engineering Team Lead. You will spearhead the delivery of new loan origination architecture, compliance systems, and a pricing platform that will power M‑KOPA's expansion across Africa. Your work will directly shape how millions of people access credit for the first time.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of backend engineers on greenfield and legacy projects, owning the full software lifecycle from design to decommissioning.
• Set architectural direction for event‑driven, microservice‑based systems and ensure high‑quality, observable code.
• Partner closely with the Product Manager on roadmap planning, prioritisation, and delivery.
• Act as a servant leader, coaching and growing engineers while shipping impactful software.
• Champion DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code, automated testing, and continuous delivery.

Required profile

• Experienced low‑ego engineering leader with a strong hands‑on background in C#/.NET backend development.
• Proven experience with Azure (preferred) or other major cloud providers (AWS, GCP).
• Solid understanding of event‑driven architecture and microservice development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineers in a collaborative environment.
• Comfortable working with product teams to shape roadmaps and drive delivery.
