Social Protection Assistant

About the role

The Social Protection Assistant plays a vital role in advancing social protection initiatives that improve the safety, inclusion, resilience and well-being of at-risk individuals, families and communities. The post is based in Maiduguri and covers community outreach, direct support to beneficiaries, data collection, referral coordination and programme documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate social protection activities in local communities and field settings.
• Help locate and connect vulnerable households and individuals eligible for assistance.
• Oversee beneficiary registration, verification of details and maintenance of records.
• Contribute to community education and awareness campaigns on social protection services.
• Coordinate referrals to government bodies, service providers and local organisations.
• Assess households and communities and collect relevant data.
• Ensure the accuracy and security of beneficiary records and programme documentation.
• Take part in field monitoring, site visits and follow-up with beneficiaries.
• Identify barriers to access and report insights to the programme team.
• Assist in drafting activity reports and provide regular programme updates.
• Collaborate with community leaders, government officials and other stakeholders.
• Uphold strict confidentiality of sensitive beneficiary information.
