About the role
A financial services company is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop and maintain robust server-side applications. The role focuses on building high-performance, scalable microservices and RESTful APIs with Java and Spring Boot, driving architectural decisions and ensuring data integrity.
Key responsibilities
- Architect and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservice architectures.
- Manage data persistence with Spring Data JPA, Hibernate and relational databases.
- Connect to external third-party APIs and services.
- Build event-driven pipelines with Apache Kafka and use Redis caching.
- Apply security via Spring Security, JWT and OAuth2.
- Write unit and integration tests and take part in code reviews.
- Debug production issues and optimise performance and scalability.
- Deploy containerised apps in Docker and Kubernetes, supported by AWS and CI/CD pipelines.
