Senior Associate, Finance

About the role

Babban Gona is looking for a proactive Senior Associate, Finance to build and own a robust financial reporting framework that meets Nigerian regulatory requirements and international donor standards. You will be the go‑to person for turning numbers into actionable insight for senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of accurate, timely financial reports for both local regulators and international donors.
• Own and accelerate the month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Partner with the Head of Finance and senior leaders to translate data into strategic decisions.
• Proactively identify financial trends, risks and opportunities.
• Design, document and embed internal controls that withstand external audits.
• Build and mentor a small reporting team to ensure rigorous execution.

Required profile

• 7–10 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting or audit, including senior/managerial roles.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• Hands‑on experience with Nigerian GAAP/local standards and IFRS or donor‑aligned standards.
• Proven track record in designing or strengthening internal controls.
• Experience managing or mentoring a team.
• Excellent communication skills to convey financial insight to non‑technical leaders.
• Familiarity with financial systems and reporting tools beyond Excel.
• Background in fast‑scaling, decentralized, multi‑site organisations.
