Sales Attendant

About the role

Benson Idahosa University (BIU) is hiring a full-time, on-site Sales Attendant in Benin City to support daily sales operations in its designated sales outlets, such as campus stores or service points. The role welcomes and assists customers, answers product and service questions and provides courteous, efficient support to students, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Handle cash and electronic transactions, issue receipts and keep accurate records
• Keep shelves and displays properly stocked and labelled
• Monitor inventory levels, report stock shortages and maintain a clean, organised sales area
• Follow university policies on customer service, safety and ethical conduct
• Support promotional activities, collect customer feedback and help meet sales and service targets

Required profile

• Minimum of a secondary school certificate; post-secondary training in business, marketing or a related field is an advantage
• Previous retail, customer service or sales support experience is preferred but not strictly required
• Commitment to BIU's values of integrity, respect and professionalism

Required skills

• Customer service, clear communication and active listening
• Basic sales and cash-handling skills, including point-of-sale systems
• Time management and attention to detail in record keeping and inventory monitoring
• Teamwork and basic numerical and computer literacy, including familiarity with spreadsheets or simple inventory and sales software
