Risk & Compliance Analyst

About the role

Standard Bank Group is hiring a Risk & Compliance Analyst in Lagos to provide technical and administrative support to the P&C Operations function. The role executes daily controls, verifications and monitoring within the First Line of Defense (1LoD), applying compliance checklists, collecting regulatory data and verifying employee credentials and payroll inputs to reduce operational errors, financial loss and regulatory breaches while keeping the department audit-ready.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily sanction screenings and credit history checks on prospective employees and verify academic and professional credentials of new hires through vendors.
• Validate monthly payroll data for new hires against audit trails to confirm staff grades and salaries.
• Collate evidence for internal and external audits and input risk incidents into the Risk Marketplace (RMP) platform.
• Compile data for regulatory submissions and statutory filings to the Central Bank and other authorities.
• Monitor the P&C compliance calendar and manage expatriate permit applications, quota returns and monthly expenses such as school fees, logistics and accommodation.
• Run routine access reviews on HCM systems to align staff permissions with their roles.

Required profile

• BSc in Business Commerce, Human Resources, Risk Management, Social Sciences or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in internal control, audit, compliance or a risk-based administrative role in financial services or a highly regulated environment.
• Experience with standardised compliance checklists and data-driven verifications such as payroll audits and credential checks.
• Proven ability to spot clerical and process errors in a fast-paced setting.
• Relevant professional certifications are an added advantage.
