Director of Investment - Technology and Sovereign Digital Desk

About the role

Brendan Nicholas Holdings, a permanent-capital institution focused on building and holding companies for the long term, starting in Nigeria and expanding across Africa, is looking for a Director of Investment to lead its Technology and Sovereign Digital Desk. This is a senior role for someone who understands how to build companies, allocate capital and put the right people and structures in place so businesses succeed over the long term.

Key responsibilities

• Assess investment opportunities and establish new companies.
• Appoint boards and executive teams and set up the right governance structures.
• Be accountable for the companies built by the Desk and the results they deliver.
• Day-to-day commercial negotiations and contract execution are handled by the executives you appoint.

Required profile

• Experience taking an asset or company from an initial idea to actual operations, with clear responsibility for the outcome.
• Experience exercising decision-making authority over capital, appointing and removing senior executives, and working within a governance structure that held you accountable.
• Demonstrable, verifiable relationships within the sector.
• Ability to explain opportunities turned down and the reasoning behind them.
• Strong writing, openness to feedback and willingness to accept correction without becoming defensive.
