Reward Specialist (Unit Head)

About the role

eRecruiter is recruiting, on behalf of its client, a Reward Specialist (Unit Head) for a leading Nigerian power solutions provider with over 1,500 employees and a branch network across West Africa. The role covers compensation and benefits, performance management and workforce development, and is based in Lagos.

Key responsibilities

• Compensation and benefits: define a fair, competitive total compensation package aligned with company strategy; build a consistent compensation philosophy; ensure compliance with legislation such as pay equity and human rights; use data-driven decisions on direct, indirect and non-financial compensation
• Assess employee motivation through organizational psychology surveys, prepare job descriptions, job analysis, job evaluations and job classifications, and take part in salary and labour market surveys
• Differentiate pay systems to reward high-value workforce segments, run periodic audits and reports, and research emerging trends and best practices
• Performance management: oversee the performance appraisal programme, core competencies, values and KPIs, report on results, train staff and management, and help develop performance improvement plans
• Workforce development and succession planning: assess skills gaps, plan training and career development, and support change management readiness and job-impact analyses

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources
• At least 5 years of experience as a compensation and benefits specialist
• Experience in HR practices and compensation cycle management
• Previous experience with organizational psychology and labour market surveys
• Familiarity with various types of incentives and benefits

Required skills

• Working knowledge of job evaluation and job analysis systems
• Adequate knowledge of current labour rules and regulations
• Extensive knowledge of HR software and MS Office
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills
