Employee Development Specialist (Unit Head)

About the role

eRecruiter is recruiting, on behalf of its client, a Unit Head for an Employee Development Specialist position in Lagos. The client is a leading power solution provider in Nigeria with over 1,500 employees and a branch network across West Africa, active in generator sales and services. The role is responsible for creating and implementing training programmes and overseeing career development, setting performance metrics, evaluating productivity and helping workers build long-term career plans.

Key responsibilities

• Identify training and development needs through job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with business managers and HR departments
• Design and expand training and development programmes based on organisational and individual needs
• Work with line managers, accountants and senior managers to deliver programmes that satisfy all relevant parties
• Assess programme costs and stay within budget, considering the return on investment of training
• Develop effective induction programmes and produce training materials for in-house courses
• Manage delivery of programmes and, in a more senior role, devise a training strategy for the organisation
• Monitor trainee progress through questionnaires and discussions with managers, and evaluate programmes
• Revise programmes as needed and help line managers and trainers solve training problems
• Keep up to date with training developments and present research on new workplace learning technologies and methodologies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources
• At least 5 years of experience developing training programmes within Human Resources
• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
• Managerial and leadership skills, analytical thinking and social media knowledge
• Professionalism, honesty, integrity, proactivity and a results-oriented approach
