Project Management Lead (PMO)

About the role

The PMO Lead oversees the planning, execution and delivery of IT projects across infrastructure, applications and ERP domains. The role keeps projects aligned with organisational strategy, promotes best practices in project management and leads project managers and cross-functional teams. The position is based in Port Harcourt.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and enforce PMO standards, methodologies and governance processes, and ensure compliance with regulations, security standards and organisational policies.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve PMO effectiveness and project delivery.
• Oversee project portfolio management, prioritising and allocating resources in line with business objectives.
• Monitor project performance, budgets, timelines and deliverables, and report regularly to leadership.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues and dependencies, and escalate them when needed.
• Supervise and mentor project managers and teams on infrastructure, application and ERP projects, and support change management for IT projects.
• Work with business stakeholders, IT leadership and external vendors to ensure successful project outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field; a Master's degree is an added advantage.
• 9+ years of progressive experience in IT project management.
• At least 3 years in a PMO leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure, application and ERP projects.
• Experience in utilities, government or large enterprise environments is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid project management methodologies.
• PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent certification.
• Familiarity with ITIL, COBIT or other IT service management frameworks.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Project, Jira and Smartsheet.
